Matthew was called home by Jesus on the morning of Thursday, March 24th, 2022, peacefully and at his home in Clover, South Carolina.
Matthew was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1997. He was part of the football team that won that year’s state championship. He earned his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University and subsequently attended University of Michigan graduate school. Matthew had a successful career as a financial officer in the automotive industry, which was one of his passions.
Matthew fervently loved his entire family and faithfully embraced all of the beautiful aspects of life: his strong sense of love for others, faithfulness in God, sense of humor, enthusiasm for sports, and charisma were gifts that he shared with those around him during the time that he was given to us by God.
Matthew is survived by his daughters, Maeve and Mary Clare Weiss; his fiancée, Channing Stark; mother and father, Marianne and Dennis; brother, Timothy (Maria); brother, Nicholas (Jennifer); sister, Catherine (Alexander); his niece, Ariadne; his nephew, Alekos; and countless other family and friends.
Visitation will take place at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, South Carolina, on Thursday, March 31st, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 PM. The funeral Mass service celebrating Matthew’s life will be Friday, April 1st, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Church, 530 Hwy. 274, Lake Wylie, South Carolina at 11:00 AM. His interment will be the following week and will be announced. Flowers may be sent to M. L. Ford & Son Funeral Home in Lake Wylie.
Rest in peace with God to our dearest son, father, fiancé, brother, nephew, and friend.
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine upon your face,
And the rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His Hand.
