He was involved in many activities in college, including Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, the Tower Players Drama group, and was a cub reporter for the college newspaper.  Following graduation, Mr. Waddell attended NC State University for a year of post graduate studies in chemistry.

Mr. Waddell was a US Army veteran.
