Mr. Merton Emerson Sweet, Jr., 79, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at home.

Mr. Sweet was born January 4, 1942 in Clifton Springs, NY to the late Merton Emerson Sweet Sr. and Jennie Smith Sweet. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Anita Tyau, Lois Cheney, and Karla Taylor and a brother, E. Frank Sweet.

Survivors are his wife Sheila Kay (Booth) Sweet; daughter Kimberly Jo Sweet; sons Merton E. Sweet, III and Michael T. Sweet (Jeannine); sister Janice Touron; grandchildren Shawnee Jo Watson, Rion Sweet, Christian Reese, Mikayla Sweet, and Shelby Sweet; and great grandchildren Harmoni and Royce.

Merton was a long time resident of Phelps, NY and spent most of his retirement years in Casa Grande, AZ. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving in the Construction Battalion (Seabees) and retired from Goulds Pumps. He was an avid sports fan and because of that was a long time Little League baseball coach.
