Mr. Michael Douglas Travers, 86, of Clover, SC, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at CaroMont Health, Gastonia, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 530 Hwy. 274, Lake Wylie, SC. There will be a reception for family and friends at the church following the service.
Mr. Travers was born November 19, 1937, in New Florence, PA, to the late Michael H. and Loretta Douglass Travers. Mr. Travers, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was a member of the U.S. Navy's Underwater Demolition Team/Sea-Air-Land Team (UDT/SEAL) and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) during his 26 years of military service. He then went on to work in the nuclear power industry for the remainder of his professional career and retired from Duke Energy.
Mr. Travers was preceded in death by his sisters, Shelley Mack and Loretta Ann Reed, and a granddaughter, Rachel Travers Abshire.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Boyd Travers; daughter Michele Barber (William) of Havana, FL; sons Daniel D. Travers (Sarah) of Mytic, CT and Andrew T. Travers (Victor) of Falls Church, VA; five grandchildren; and,two great grandchildren.
