Dr. Norvelle “Bud" Guyton Simmons, Jr., age 89, Clover, SC, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church, 490 Griggs Road, Clover, SC, with the Rev. Dr. Elwood Seamster officiating.  Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 1612 Providence Rd., Quincy, FL 32351. 

Dr. Simmons was born October 20, 1931 in Chattahoochee, FL, to the late Capt. Norvelle Guyton and Eva Richards Simmons.

He is survived by his sons William A. Simmons (Mary), Lake Wylie, SC, Michael T. Simmons (Mary Beth), Carolina Beach, NC, and daughter Carol J. Simmons (Douglas Fetner), Lake Wylie, SC.  He was preceded in death by one daughter Charlene A. Simmons.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  He will also be dearly missed by many other friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
