Mrs. Patricia Jean Dolan Cox, 73, of Charlotte, NC, passed away at home on August 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Her family and loved ones most often referred to her as Patti, but they also called her by many nicknames, including Patti Jean, PJ, and Fin.

Patti was born May 28, 1952, in Washington, PA to the late James Leslie Dolan and Winnifred Lindsay Dolan.  Patti lived in Stockdale, PA until she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in May 1973.  In July 1973 she married her loving husband, Dale Cox.  Upon getting married, they moved to Maryland to start their careers, while she also earned a Master’s Degree from Towson University.

Throughout her career Patti held a variety of jobs in the education field in both the private and public schools. Patti had a positive impact on all the people she worked with and the students she served.

Survivors are her husband of 52 years, Dale Cox; daughter Kelley C. Hatcher (Marquel) of Elkridge, MD; son Jonathan Cox (Katie) of Rock Hill, SC; brother Dennis Dolan (Carla) of Ellicott City, MD; and six grandchildren (Jacob Boatwright, Kira Hatcher, Maddie Hatcher, Ellie Cox, Lucas Cox, and Avery Cox).

In her spare time Patti loved to spend time with her grandchildren and husband. Her favorite pastime was reading and watching the Food Network with her dog, Chewy, by her side. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren and would speak about them often to her friends and family. Anyone who knew her knows how much she loved her family and her Lord Jesus. Patti was truly one of a kind and she will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Lake Wylie Baptist Church, 16105 Grand Palisades Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28278.
