Patsy Smart Obituary

Mrs. Patsy Beamguard Smart, 93, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Ronnie Christenberry.

A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Woodside Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina, with the Rev. John Muse officiating.  Visitation will follow the graveside service.

Patsy was born on June 1, 1928, in Clover, South Carolina, to the late Sadie Jackson Beamguard and Benjamin Tillman Beamguard.

During her second grade, her father, at the age of 46, died of pneumonia.  Patsy and her three siblings were separated to live with relatives.  Patsy was brought up by Aunts, Belle and Mamie Beamguard and Uncle, Harry Beamguard.  She was very well loved as a child.

She graduated with the Class of 1946 from Clover High School and continued her education at Winthrop College.  In the summer of her freshman year, she was offered a job with First National Bank in Clover, SC.  She accepted and began a forty-four year long banking career with multiple banks in this area.

Patsy married her high school sweetheart, Sidney E. Smart, in 1950.  They were blessed with over 50 years of marriage, until Sid’s death in 2004.

Years later, Patsy was blessed again to enjoy the companionship of Max A. Craig for over 12 years, until his death in 2020.

Patsy was also blessed with good health up until this illness in January.  She was blessed with wonderful friends all her life, especially her “Golden Girls”!

She loved her friends, family, her church, and The Lord.  Her zest for life will truly be missed.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Smart, her brother, David Beamguard, sisters, Jean McSwain and Sue Linker, and her companion, Max A. Craig.

Survivors are her daughter Patricia S. Christenberry (Ronnie), sister-in-law, Barbara Beamguard,  nieces and nephews, and her grandpups, Buster Brown and Daisy Mae.

Thanks to all of our special friends who have helped us through the past months.  Special thanks to all the Hospice nurses with Provident Care, especially, Kellie and Hope.
