Paul D Deese, age 95 of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 17,1925 in Greenville County, SC, Paul was one of eight children born to the late Claude A. Deese and Annie Hall Deese.
Paul was honored to serve his country as a signalman in the U.S. Navy, 4th Beach Battalion during WWII. Following the war, he completed schooling in Electronics at DeVry, in Chicago. In 1962, Paul moved his family to Charlotte, NC where he worked as a Sears Service Manager. After retiring, he worked seasonally for H&R Block in Gastonia. Paul was an active and faithful member of his church, serving as deacon, pastor search committee member and Sunday School teacher. He cherished his life-long friends at the former Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lake Wylie, SC.
He and Edith Ervin Deese, the love of his life, were married almost 74 years. They spent many years camping and vacationing around the country with friends and family members. In 1996, Paul and Edith completed family genealogy data for both families by traveling all around SC and NC doing library and site research.
Paul was a life-long learner, always exploring new hobbies and interests -- from painting landscapes and woodworking, to playing the harmonica and ukulele, raising chickens and creating websites. He took great pleasure in his everyday life, his garden, his pets and his friends. Even in his nineties, he mastered new phone and computer technology. Most of all, Paul loved Edith and his family unconditionally. He will be remembered as a contented man, blessed with a sense of humor, adventure and natural curiosity.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Ervin Deese, three brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two loving daughters and their families: Randee Helms (Mike) of Summerville, SC; and Teresa Deese Fritch of Huntersville, NC. He was a beloved grandfather to two grandchildren: Laura E. Miller of Greenville, NC and Michael E. Miller (Wendy) of Bremen, Georgia; plus three great-grandchildren, Deese Logan Miller of Bremen, GA, Shaun Elizabeth Rogers of Charlotte, NC and Bailey Anderson Rogers of Fort Mill, SC. He is survived by his youngest sister, Millie Jean Hennessee of Bostic, NC. Paul leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss his stories and his good nature.
Paul’s family want to thank his compassionate and loving caregivers, Petra Strobelt of Tega Cay, SC and the team at Hospice and Palliative Care- Palmetto Region, especially Joy, Lauren, Amanda and Megan.
