Mr. Herbert Richard Elliott, 81, of Clover, SC, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his home, following a chronic illness.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28th at the First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main Street, Clover, SC, with Rev. Mike Stafford and Rev. Greg Palmer officiating. The family will receive family and friends before the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
Mr. Elliott was born November 23, 1943, in Jesup, GA, to the late Lacratus Elliott and Ruby Beaver Elliott. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordan Elliott.
Richard graduated from Jesup High School in 1962 and was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Air Force. After serving four years in Thailand and Mountain Home, ID, he attended Georgia State University and graduated with a BA in Business, majoring in Real Estate Banking. He married Elaine in 2002, who was also from Jesup, GA. Richard and Elaine felt very blessed to have found each other 40 years after their high school days. Richard was an exemplary, loving husband, and Elaine’s very best friend.
Richard retired in 2008 after working in Mortgage Banking for 40 years. He was an active member of the Clover First Baptist Church and the Senior Discipleship Sunday School Class. Richard was also a 12-year member of the Dallas, NC Bridge Club. Richard loved his wife and home, his Church, coin collecting and playing bridge.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ruth Elaine Sweat Elliott; his children, Vanesa Elliott Livingstone of Mechanicsville, VA, and Daniel Preston Elliott (Sandra) of Pleasanton, CA; and grandchildren, Preston Elliott, Carson Elliott, Abigail Livingstone, and Aiden Livingstone; his favorite aunt Betty Beaver; and several loved cousins.
