Richard Falls Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Mr. Marvin Richard Falls, Jr., “Papa”, of Clover SC, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC.

Richard was born August 13, 1939 in Gastonia, NC to the late Beatrice Bailey Falls and Marvin Raymond Falls.  He was raised in Clover, SC and was a Clover High School graduate.  Richard attended the Gaston Technical Institute to later transfer to Gardner Webb College.  He was not drafted into the U.S. Army, but left college and enlisted to serve his country.  He served in the Army from 1961 to 1965.

Richard worked in his family lumber company, Falls Brothers Lumber Company, and then retired from Michaels Well Drilling in 2006.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Mack Jackson Falls, also from Clover, SC.

He is survived by their only child, Kathleen Sineath Falls, her husband Michael Brooks McAfee, their son, Stephen George McAfee and his wife Mindy Earnest McAfee of Belmont, NC.

The family wishes to thank the surgeons and nursing staff of Atrium Pineville ICU, and the nursing staff of 4A med/surg also at Atrium Pineville. They would also like to thank the York Huddle House Restaurant team, there Richard found a community of friends who he appreciated visiting with each morning.  The amazing folks at Huddle House fed his belly and the friendships fed his soul.  We are forever grateful.

Graveside service will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Woodside Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Stanford officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richardson Rescue, 1968 Garvin Road, York, SC 29745.
