Richard “Lee” Reighart, 83, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Born on October 25, 1942, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, Lee was the son of Elmer and Geri (Stall) Reighart. Lee had one sister Betty (Reighart) Clark.  He grew up with a strong work ethic, a love of adventure, and a deep appreciation for family and friendship—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

Lee graduated from Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois, and earned his degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.  He enjoyed a successful career spanning four decades in the automotive industry, including 35 years with Champion Spark Plug and its subsidiaries and five years with Bosch Automotive. His career provided opportunities to live and work in several communities across the country, including Chicago, Illinois; Toledo, Ohio; Mission Viejo, California; St. Louis, Missouri; and Farmington, Michigan. Wherever life took him, Lee built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues through his dedication, integrity and leadership.  Lee enjoyed the last twelve years of retirement Lake Wylie, SC!

While he enjoyed a successful professional career, Lee’s true passion was sailing. As a young man, he was an avid sailboat racer on Lake Michigan, embracing both the competition and camaraderie of the sport. In later years, he continued to enjoy pleasure sailing, finding peace and joy on the water. Sailing was more than a hobby - it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Above all else, Lee cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Reighart; his daughter, Stephanie Becker (Steve); his son, Steve Reighart (Therese); his stepdaughter, Julie Hobbs (Kevin); and his stepson, Nathan Daniel (Sakiya).  He has 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.   He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and friend whose love, guidance, and generosity enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Lee will be remembered for his strength of character, quick wit, warm heart and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He possessed a quiet confidence, a thoughtful nature, and an ability to make people feel welcomed and valued. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or enjoying time with family and friends, he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in celebrating a life well lived - a life marked by love, hard work, adventure, and countless cherished memories.  Lee was a member of the River Hills Lion’s Club, River Hills Country Club, Avanti and River Hills Yacht Club.

A private celebration of Lee’s life will be held with family.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to honor Lee’s memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, or embracing an adventure of their own—just as he would have done.  We would also welcome a gift to CAAC (Clover Area Assistance Center).
