Mrs. Rita Maria Gargano, 74, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 14.

Born on January 27, 1951, in Martone, Calabria, Italy, Rita was the daughter of the late Orlando Galilea and Giuseppina Galluzzo. She immigrated to New York City with her mother and siblings in the late 1960s, beginning a new chapter of life in the United States. She later moved with her husband and daughter to Maryland and eventually to South Carolina, where she made her home for many years.

Rita is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Mario Gargano, and her daughter, Roberta Hofmeister (Michael). She found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life—her beloved dogs and grand‑pups, the meals she lovingly prepared, the gardens she tended, and the opera she cherished. Above all, Rita treasured time spent around the table with family and friends, where her warmth and generosity were always felt.
