Rita Rasnick Obituary

Rita Marie Rasnick was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Dick Rasnick, whom she dearly missed following his passing in April. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, several family members and friends who helped shape her life of faith and service.

She is survived by her sister, Sharon Durbin (John) of Ohio; her four daughters, Rebecca Boyd (Scott) of Clover, SC, Deborah Prescott (Kevin) of Draper, VA, Karen Layne of Wake Forest, NC, and Elaina Spruill of Clover, SC; eight grandchildren, Jacob Prescott (Mindy), Mark Boyd (Elizabeth), Jessie Dills (Zack), Elizabeth Boyd, Ellie Spruill, Jon Spruill, Olivia Layne, and Parker Layne; and three treasured great-grandchildren, Dennie Prescott, Duke Prescott, and Dolly Prescott. She also deeply loved her niece, Jennifer Lee (Brian), and great-nephews, Mason Lee and Colin Lee.

Rita was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated nurse, and faithful servant of the Lord whose quiet kindness touched countless lives. Raised in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, she graduated as valedictorian of her high school class before attending nursing school in Dayton, where she met the love of her life, Dick. The two married on June 6, 1964, beginning a lifetime of love, family, faith, and adventure together.

As Dick’s career moved the family from Ohio to Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, and finally South Carolina, Rita faithfully cared for her family while building a remarkable nursing career. She worked in emergency medicine, small community hospitals, doctors’ offices, occupational nursing, and eventually Family Medicine in Clover, SC. Many patients still fondly remembered that Rita “gave the best stick.”

Rita faithfully served her church and community. For more than 25 years at First Baptist Church, she quietly sent handwritten birthday and anniversary cards filled with Scripture and encouragement to church members. Alongside Dick, she participated in mission trips to Africa and Guatemala, always serving others with humility and love.

Rita’s life was defined by compassion, faith, and devotion to others. Though she never sought recognition, her kindness left a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know her. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace and reunited with Dick once again.
