Mr. Roy Thomas Cain, Sr., 88, of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully at home surround by his family on April 1, 2026.
Born April 6, 1937 in York, South Carolina to the late Lytle and Fannie Youngblood Cain, Roy was a graduate of York High School, served in the United States Air Force, and retired from Okuma in Charlotte, NC.
Roy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane Crawford Cain; son, Roy Thomas Cain, Jr. (Terri) of Lincolnton, NC; grandson, Tyler H. Cain (Hannah) of Clover, SC; granddaughter, Victoria “Tori” A. Cain of York, SC; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Madison and Wyatt, who brought him immense joy.
Roy, affectionately known as PawPaw, had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
Roy is also survived by his sister, Ferrie Cain Green; brother, John Edward “Buddy” Cain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his siblings Charles Lytle Cain, William Eugene “Gene” Cain, Robert Joseph “Bobby Joe” Cain, Mary Frances Cain, James Hazel “Jimmie” Cain, Alice Cain Hope, and Louise Cain Ramsey.
A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2026 at St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Monica Tilley officiating. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. before the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
