“Sam” as he was known and respected by many, retired from Duke Power after over 40 years of service. After his retirement, Sam spent most of his days, raising beef cattle and growing hay on the family farm that was originally started by his father-in-law, Mr. Pressley Robinson. He also enjoyed riding horses and four-wheelers with family in the pastures and woods on this land. Sam loved planting and tending a large garden where he and many family members would put up vegetables that were then shared for a delicious wintertime meal.
Sam loved the Lord and served him by helping out in many ways at his home church Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and his present church for over 20 years, First United Methodist Church of Clover. He was always up for any task that would help out the church or anyone associated with the church. One of his favorite roles was helping with Salkehatchie Summer service, where he loved working with young people while helping those that were in dire need. He especially shared his love for Christ through his actions and service with Salkehatchie. Sam’s giving heart was not limited to the walls of the church. He was always willing to go and help anyone in need. He had a wonderful way with people and lived in a way that witnessed to so many.
Sam dearly loved his very large family and thought it was very important to gather together regularly. He was always willing to help anyone in his immediate or extended family including friends of family members from the smallest favor to task that could never be too large for Sam Jackson.
Though he loved all of his family dearly, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so very special to him. He would often stop whatever project he was working on to spend time with them. He was so proud of them and his face would light up when anyone asked about them.
Sam will be remembered for his strong faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his love for the outdoors, his enduring love for family, and especially for his warm, friendly personality.
