Mr. Walter McClain “Sonny” Settlemyre, 85, of Clover, SC, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Carolina Gardens, York, SC.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel Street, Clover, SC with the Rev. Alex Stevenson, Rev. Michael Walker, and Rev. Irvin Plowden, Jr. officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 in the Church Atrium.

Mr. Settlemyre was born January 6, 1937 in Clover, SC to the late Walter E. and Eugenia McClain Settlemyre.  He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and was retired from Astra Zeneca.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey McCarter, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors are his wife of 31 years Cecil Broom Settlemyre; daughters Kim S. Fitzgerald (Paul) of Raleigh, NC and Heather Higgins of Concord, NC; grandchildren Sadie McCarter, Sawyer Sherrill, Daisy M. Templeton, and Ryan Fitzgerald; great grandchildren Jaxon McCarter, Stella McCarter and Bowen McCarter; and special family caregivers, Dale Settlemyre and Britt & Jennifer Humphries.
