Suzanne Miller Sams, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Wellmore Assisted Living in Tega Cay, South Carolina.
She was born August 25, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late John Henry and Emma Much Miller.
Suzanne was known for her warmth, creativity, and generous spirit. She was active in her community throughout her life, serving as a scout den mother and supporting charitable causes and local initiatives. She and her husband were longtime members of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, Delaware.
She worked at Hercules Incorporated and later as a laboratory technician for Himont. She also shared her artistic talents by designing and sewing costumes for productions at the Arden Candlelight Dinner Theatre.
Suzanne had a lifelong love of quilting and participated in several quilting groups, including the Strip Piecers. Her beautifully handcrafted quilts were often donated and sold at community events and fundraisers in support of local causes.
She took particular pride in the flowers she cultivated around “Pinecrest,” the family home on the Indian River in Delaware, where she lived for nearly 40 years. There, she and her husband frequently welcomed friends and neighbors, hosting gatherings that reflected her deep commitment to community life. Suzanne especially enjoyed ending her days on the patio overlooking the water, sharing a glass of wine with her husband and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ronald Sams, and her brother, Edward Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Skrobot of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; her sons, Craig Sams of Wilmington, Delaware, and Trent Sams of Holliston, Massachusetts; as well as five grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Church St., P.O. Box 566, Millsboro, DE 19966.
M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Lake Wylie, SC is serving the family of Mrs. Sams.
