Mrs. Vernette Roberta Dent Stivers, 77, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Vernette was born May 7, 1946, in Detroit, MI, to the late Robert Earl and Corinne Dutcher Dent.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Dent, and her brother, Robert Dent, Jr. Vernette spent most of her life in New Jersey, retiring to South Carolina in 2004.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Russell Francis Stivers; her daughters, Robin Wallace (David), Lake Wylie, SC, and Jennifer Stivers, Phillipsburg, NJ; her sisters, Diana Rowe and Corinne Schoonover; and her step-granddaughters, Kaitlin Wallace and Cecelia Wallace. Vernette was an avid reader who particularly enjoyed mysteries. She also enjoyed watching movies, shopping for home décor, and keeping up with current events, but, above all else, she treasured time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
