Mr. Victor Manuel Mercado Sr., 65, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at home.

The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, SC. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Mr. Mercado was born June 8, 1957, in Puerto Rico, to Reinalda Roman and the late Victor Mercado.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Evelyn Arroyo Mercado; his mother, Reinalda Roman, Utica, NY: his daughters, Kimberly Lazarek (Andrew), Lake Wylie, SC, and Titania Smellie (Drew), Richmond, VA; his son, Victor Mercado Jr. (Kelli), Rochester, NY; his sisters, Miriam Ramirez, Utica, NY, and Iris Lopez, Utica, NY; and eight grandchildren: Caleb & Lucas Lazarek, Amelia, Liam, & Flora Smellie, Yanni, Victor, and Kaiden Mercado. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved as if they were his own. The family would like to express their gratitude to Crescent Hospice and the support team that took care of him during these last trying months. Special thanks to Jamie, Alyson, Talya, and Kayla.

Mr. Mercado is remembered as being an avid fisherman and sports fan. His love for the New York Yankees and New York Jets teams were immeasurable. He spent many summer days fishing with his family and friends; he always enjoyed reeling in a big bass. Additionally, he was quite the handy man always working on little projects on his home and gardening with his wife. He will be missed, especially on sunny days while his grandkids, nieces and nephews participate in their favorite sports.
