Walter Beamguard Obituary

Mr. Larry Beamguard, age 80 of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 9, 2021 after a brief stay at Novant Health, Charlotte, NC.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Woodside Cemetery, Clover, SC with the Rev. Alex Stevenson officiating.  Please wear a mask and social distance.

The family hopes to host a celebration of life when conditions will allow.

Larry was born May 24, 1940 in Clover, SC to the late Claude C. and Ethel Evelyn Sinclair Beamguard.

Larry achieved Eagle Scout within Troop 238 in 1955, graduated from Clover High School in 1958, served in the US Army 1963-1965.  He retired from Wikoff Color Corp.

He was a stalwart member of First United Methodist Church, Clover, SC. If the doors were open, he was there, working in the kitchen for dinners, helping get the bulletins ready for Sunday, helping get food bags ready for the needy, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, working the annual bazaar, securing the sweet potatoes for the turkey dinner, and doing mission trips to Kenya, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, and to states like KY, SC, and FL to help rebuild homes damaged by storms or needing major repairs.

Larry is survived by his two sons, Nathan Daniel Beamguard and his wife, Becky, of Hamptonville, NC, and David Kevin Beamguard and his wife, Maggie, of West End, NC, close friend Donna McWaters of Clover, SC, one grandson, James Marshall “Jamie” Beamguard of Raleigh, NC, three granddaughters, Suzanna “Suzie” Elizabeth Beamguard of Chicago, IL, and Charlotte Sinclair Beamguard and Norah Ruth Beamguard of West End, NC, two sisters, Betty Joan Beamguard Peake of Hartsville, SC, and Margaret Elaine Beamguard Corbett of Lexington, SC, and one brother, James Edward Beamguard of Englewood, FL, numerous nieces, nephews, and first cousins in the Beamguard and Sinclair families.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710.
