Mr. Walter James Short, 81, formerly of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church, 6381 Lake Wylie, Road, Lake Wylie, SC with the Rev. Steve Kirby officiating.  A graveside service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Short was born May 2, 1942 in Charlotte, NC to the late Bennie Wilbur and Martha Alice Keesler Short.  He was retired from Overnite Transportation/UPS Freight.  Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Brandon Short and a son, Bennie Wayne Short.

Survivors are his daughter Sandra Lee Neeley of York, SC; sons Walter Wayne Short (Yvonne) of Gerton, NC, Donald Buford Nalley (Pam) of Morganton, NC and Larry Thomas Carpenter, Jr. of York, SC; sister Carolyn Brown; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren
