William A. “Bill” Blanton, 85, departed this life on Monday morning, November 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and deep devotion to his family.
Bill was born on August 20th, 1940, in Cliffside, North Carolina, to Robert and Vienne Blanton. As the eldest of ten children, he carried a natural sense of responsibility and leadership from an early age—qualities that would guide him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lovie; his brothers Cleo, Horace, and Jimmy; his sisters Heidi, Catherine, and Martha; and his granddaughter, Annalise Elle. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his years.
Bill is survived by his son, Cliff; his brother, Lawrence; his sisters, Julie and Sharon; three grandsons; and two granddaughters, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
A proud Army veteran, Bill honorably served two combat tours in Vietnam, where he demonstrated courage under fire and unwavering dedication to his country. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star—an acknowledgment of the bravery and commitment that defined his military career.
Bill will be remembered for his resilience, his loyalty to those he loved, and the quiet strength he carried through every chapter of his life.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Clover, SC. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service. Interment with Military Honors will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens, York, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to his granddaughter’s memorial scholarship fund at https://www.elleblantonperformingartsscholarship.com/donate, continuing the legacy of love and learning he valued so deeply.
