Anne, I am convinced that no one better than God, understands the depth of your pain and can help you cope with your disquieting thoughts. Please believe the words of Psalm 34:18 "Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." Giving us a foregleam of Paradise, Jesus said in John 6:40 "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone that beholds the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him at the last day." We were saddened to read in the Courier News today the passing of Dr. McCarthy. We became patients of his in 1979 and he was our doctor until his retirement. He treated Tony, myself and our two sons Anthony and Matthew for all sorts of ailments and injuries. It was a difficult for us when he retired as he was part of our lives for so many years. He also was very caring and understanding to my parents, Albert and Mary Van Tyne, who were also his patients.

We have thought about him and Ann often over the past few years.

Mike has been a dear member of the Ruckel Family since I was a young boy. He was a dear friend of my father's besides being related by his marriage to Anne. I felt much closer to Mike in the last several years as he kindly tolerated and I think came to enjoy my "salty humor" as we found common ground in friendship and laughter at our "mostly annual" Christmas parties. His legacy is a warm and fun loving family who will undoubtedly continue to embrace life and celebrate Mike in their lives. Mike's rise to Heaven's gate is assured and my wife Lori (Fox) and I feel grateful to have known him.
