Miss Jean was a fixture at our home. She & my Momma, Barbara, became friends when they met while Jean worked for First National Bank. They became best buddies. Many early Saturday mornings I would be awakened to them readying to head out for shopping starting with yard sales, Good Will, Department Stores, & finishing up Saturday night at the grocery store to get ready for cooking Sunday lunch. They traveled together all the time-the beach, mountains, Nashville, etc. One Christmas all the angels were not taken from the angel tree at the bank well Jean took the remaining & they both shopped until all angels had their hearts desire from Santa. They were total opposites, but they were perfect friends for each other. Miss Jean was the sweetest, most thoughtful, & caring person that I have know in my life. When my parents grew older, she would call me & tell me that if there was anything she could do just let her know. She meant it too. My parents were both in the hospital when they were released she moved in their home with them for 6 weeks. She was so kind & wonderful to them & could get them to do what they were suppose to do with no arguments. Miss Jean loved Christmas. She prepared for it all year. I collect Rag Dolls one Christmas in my present nestled in tissue paper were a Raggedy Ann & Andy ornaments. I loved & I asked where she got them. She said they were hers when she was young & she wanted me to have them. Miss Jean was just like that she thought nothing of sacrificing or deeply giving of herself for one she loved. My Mother passed in January. Miss Jean even while fighting leukemia called me often checking on my Dad & our family. She offered her help even though at times she could hardly move herself. That was Miss Jean! The Caldwell Family has lost one of their best yesterday! We loved her dearly & will miss her greatly!
