William Randolph "Randy" Watson, Jr.

May 5, 1931 ~ October 3, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old

William Randolph “Randy” Watson, Jr., 84, of, Lake Wylie, SC, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home.

Randy Watson was born May 5, 1931 in Raleigh, NC, to the late Katharine Johnson Watson and Colonel William Randolph Watson.

Randy was always a caring, loving, and honorable gentleman. A native North Carolinian, he was raised in a military family, attending schools in New York and Connecticut.  He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1954 with a BA in Political Science.  Commissioned as an ensign in 1954, he served in the Navy as a Lt. JG aboard the destroyer USS Ingraham out of Norfolk touring the North Atlantic and Mediterranean during the Suez Canal Crisis.  He later served in the Ready Reserve, attended NC State University, and received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1960, graduating with honors.  Randy began his career in electrical sales with Westinghouse in Pittsburgh and later worked as sales manager for several other companies before founding Watson Sales Company in 1976.  He, along with son Bruce, grew the company into the thriving business it is today.

Randy served his community selflessly, receiving the Distinguished Service Award for twenty years of dedicated service in the River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club. He worked as program director and enjoyed activities such as selling Christmas trees.  Always willing to help his fellow man, Randy was also fun-loving, with many interests that included golf, poker, bridge, reading, landscaping and poetry.

Survivors are his loving wife of 28 years, Susan Cadden Watson; daughter Jennifer W. Roberts (Manley) of Charlotte, NC; step-daughter Susan S. Boylston of Charlotte, NC; sons William R. Watson, IV (Kimberly) of Cary, NC and Bruce H. Watson (Lydia) of Davidson, NC; step-son Errol H. Stewart (Amelia) of San Francisco, CA; sister Katharine J. Watson of Brunswick, Maine; brother David T. Watson (Gail) of Atlanta, GA, and his twelve cherished grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Randy's dedicated caregivers - Carrie, Brenda, Asia, Dawn and Amber - and to Rachel Kincaid and the staff at Palmetto Region Hospice and Palliative Care.
